WICHITA, Kan. – Clinic In A Can is responding to Hurricane Harvey and Irma with re-locatable containerized clinics.

As Hurricane Irma is approaching the State of Florida with the potential to unleash even greater destruction than Hurricane Harvey, we are preparing four more Clinic In A Can units for deployment. With our non-profit resources being stretched thin, we will continue partnering with Heart to Heart International to synergistically meet the needs of those affected by both Hurricane Harvey and Irma. With three units and medical teams already deployed in the Houston, Texas area since Labor Day, two more solar powered CIAC clinics will be deployed from Wichita, Kansas September 8, 2017 to help provide additional medical support as Heart to Heart International Mobile Medical Unit is being re-deployed from Houston, Texas to Florida. Once Irma has finished wreaking havoc across Florida, Heart to Heart International advanced teams will access the areas of greatest needs and coordinate the further deployment of CIAC units.

“The greatest needs currently for those affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas and potentially for communities across Florida due to Hurricane Irma, is providing medical care to displaced families at refugee centers or deploying to communities without electricity or damaged medical facilities,” said Clinic In A Can CEO Michael Wawrzewski. “The solar powered Clinic In A Can is a practical and innovative solution not only for the immediate healthcare needs but also the long-term healthcare needs that communities face until the recovery phase is complete.”

The public and media are invited to tour the solar powered Clinic In A Can units before being scheduled for shipment at 12 p.m. Sept. 8, 2017. The units will be staged for deployment at 3545 N. Santa Fe in Wichita, Kansas. For questions or more information contact the Clinic In A Can office at 316-262-0953 or visit www.clinicinacan.org
